An uncut proof for a double sided A3 poster designed to fold down to create an A6 flyer for a series of lectures presented by The Royal College of Art’s Architecture and Interiors programme 1998 - 99.
The design itself is a typical ( of the time ) TDR remix / dub of contemporary TDR — stacking pre-built layers to be cut away to reveal different perspectives ( 3D —> 2D concept etc). In the kitchen sink on this one we have sliced grids from Department Stores Are Our New Cathedrals (itself rebuilt as Ian Anderson lecture tour promo for talks in Salford / Glasgow etc); Sign-Age promo & Progress In Work project originally at Blue Note Gallery Hoxton; Sun Electric’s Eya single for R&S; album and singles for Model 500; and some Supercharger bodies!
These cut and paste / repasted projects were seen as pure TDR without the client. This one was one of my favourites.
Speakers in the series of 8 lectures on perceptions and proposals for Utopia (in architecture) included Bruce May, Will Alsopp and Greg Lynn.
The proof, printed 5 colour, is uncut with colour bar and printers marks.
