TDR You Me them Us Now - T-Shirt

Through this imagined 2002 Socio-Geological Tourist Map of the TDR™ locale (SoYo™ North of Nowhere™) we became fascinated by where things exist in relation to other things, how places are defined by potential usage. But what if that usage changes? What if Rotherham had been the village that grew instead of Sheffield?

All these outlying towns had the potential in terms of the proximity to flowing water for mills, coalfields, places you could bring iron ore to in order to make steel. Nothing stays the same.

Ultimately, one day Sheffield might just end up being a ghost town as people have moved to wherever the relevant source materials are. What if in 100 years’ time, Sheffield is old and unwieldy and people have relocated to the village of Hathersage, which becomes the city of the future?

This is the original TDR™ / Peoples Bureau For Consumer Information shirt from 2002 which is an expression of that and which the following year was adapted as an A3 print created for a TDR™ exhibition in Hasselt (Belgium) — it links to some of the ideas we explored in 2000’s 3D>2D book and via the Tokyoscape we designed for Moshi Moshi Sushi.
